Remember when I told you not to wait to see Doctor Strange until it came out on DVD? Well, I hope you took my advice and saw it in theaters and then loved it as much as we did. And, I hope you adored it so much that you then were counting down the days until it was released on DVD so you could watch it over and over again. Like us.
We got to introduce our kids to Doctor Strange this week and their little minds were blown by the new superhero. “Is he a bad guy?”, “What are his superpowers?”, “Is he going to be okay?” So many questions. But, can you blame them? Doctor Strange is like nothing they have ever seen before, and a superhero like no other. As a parent, I loved them seeing a Marvel character that learned how to be a superhero. Rather than some accidental spill of radioactive material or a super power that comes on overnight, Doctor Strange just worked hard and studied. I loved his transformation from an arrogant and famous neurosurgeon who embarks on a journey to find healing. When his travels take him to Kamar-Taj, a mysterious enclave where he learns that there is more to the center than meets the eye, you see the true superhero emerge.
Diehard Marvel fans will definitely want to own Doctor Strange for their collection, but I truly believe that even casual fans or non-Marvel-loving audiences will fall in love with Doctor Strange. With the amazing cinematography paired with exceptional special effects, the film visuals are just incredible and take you right into the world of Doctor Strange. And now with the DVD, and especially the Blu-ray, ready to bring home, you can enjoy the movie and all the bonus features that take you behind the scenes to see how the film was put together as well as gag reels and deleted scenes. We actually started watching the bonus features first, which left our little kiddos positively begging to start the movie.
And the bonus features extend beyond Doctor Strange even further into the Marvel universe with special previews of Phase 3 movies, and even the short, “Team Thor: Part 2” where we see more of Thor and his roommate Darryl. Want to see some bonus material from Doctor Strange? Here’s a clip that shows how they created the time reversal fight scene in Hong Kong and another showing a closer look at the Hong Kong sets. The two bonus clips show both the level of detail in the physical set and then then all the special effects used to create the scene.
Doctor Strange is out on DVD and Blu-ray at retailers everywhere. Be sure to like DOCTOR STRANGE on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Be sure and visit the official DOCTOR STRANGE website for even more Strange magic.
