Back to school with Fruit of the Loom

Every mom of school aged kids is aware of the infamous school supply list at the start of each year. If you’re not familiar, these lists typically involve large amounts of cash and leads to a bunch of questions about why your child needs 25 individual toothpicks, red yarn, and three tennis shoe laces, amongst other things. While I have no doubt that these items are necessary and will lead to awesome learning opportunities, I’m much more excited to back to school shop for things that don’t come on that list.

Things like fun t-shirts, jeans, and new kicks that will make getting dressed for school less of a chore each morning. Fruit of the Loom thinks that if you’re going to the trouble of refreshing your wardrobe that you should also consider the basics – like socks, underwear, tees, and tank tops. Even though these items won’t be seen at school, it makes all the difference in how your child views getting dressed each day and can take a morning struggle and make it far more peaceful.

Underwear for Overachieverrs
The Fruit of the Loom Underwear for Overachievers program was started to help parents upgrade their children’s basics while stocking up for school. By offering seasonal bonus packs that include FREE underwear, t-shirts, socks, and undershirts in each pack, it maximizes your back to school dollars while making it each to prepare for the school year ahead.

In stores nationwide, you will see displays like the one below advertising the 3 free garments in each pack as well as on the individual packs.

3 free garments in each packRecently, we headed out to Walmart to start our school shopping and were pleased to find that in addition to supplies from the official school lists, they also had basics and fun pieces that would be perfect to start the school year off with. Since my kids have both gone through huge growth spurts and are growing out of their old socks and undershirts, this was a perfect time to load up while they could help me choose the styles they loved the most.

We started out in the basics and loaded up on socks, underwear and undershirts. I realized quickly that it had been quite a while since I had shopped for basics as I was shocked at all the cute colors, patterns, and styles available these days.

While we easily found some socks we loved {purple toe for her, grey toe for him}, the underwear was a good 30 minute shopping extravaganza as the kids got excited about every single pack and had a hard time narrowing down their choices.  In the end, we probably ended up with too many basics for the school year, but how could I say no when they were so excited?

Then we moved on and chose a few pairs of jeans to replace the ones from last year that have sadly become highwaters, some leggings to go under dresses to extend their wear into fall and winter, and some cute t-shirts for both kids. In the end, we had a very full cart and some very happy kids hugging their back to school bags and school supplies. And, then when we got home and laid our haul out, they were crazy excited to help me wash it and organize everything so it’s all ready for the start of school.

  1. How do I put this gently?…I love my boyfriend, but he is 27 and his mom STILL buys his underwear LOL. I could most definitely use some new socks; nothing better then a pair of fluffy, clean socks!

  6. We all need to stock up on their white t-shirts, we all wear them constantly. Hubby under his work clothes as he has to wear button ups and ties everyday, kids in case they spill something on their original shirt and me to clean in or wear with blue jeans. And I could always use some extra undies.
