The JOHNSON’S® Baby tradition

I have been compensated by JOHNSON’S® Baby for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts on my own Johnson’s Baby tradition. All opinions are my own.

My little sister was born when I was 6 years old and my older sister was 9. Since there had been a large gap in ages between us and our new little sister, I remember marveling at all the little baby things that came into our house and being fascinated by them. The new crib was a great place to play zoo with all of my stuffed animals, the tiny baby clothes that dominated our closet were perfect baby doll clothes, and the large bottles of JOHNSON’S® that my mom received at her baby shower were our favorite products to use even though we were well past the baby stage.

Johnson's BathWhen my older sister was hoping to get pregnant with her first child, she mentioned to me that one of the things she was looking forward to was the smell of JOHNSON’S® baby products. As a new mom myself at the time, I remember agreeing with her and gushing about how that smell immediately brought me back to childhood.

Johnson's Baby bathI told her I still used the same shampoo on my daughter that we had used all those years ago on our hair. I also told her how much I loved their head-to-toe baby wash, their shampoo plus conditioner, and their entire bedtime line with calming scents, and how there was something special about glancing in the bathroom and seeing all the JOHNSON’S® Baby items lined up on the tub. So, when my sister announced she was pregnant a few months later, I of course brought her large, celebratory bottles of all of my favorite JOHNSON’S® baby items to let her know how excited we were for her little one.

The JOHNSON’S® Baby tradition continues

Johnson's bath 2I’ve now been a mom for 9+ years and still JOHNSON’S® products remain one of my must-haves for little ones. Not only do I love them for my kiddos, but they are also one of my favorite gifts for all the new moms in my life. Whether I pick them up in the baby aisle, order using store pick up, or I have them delivered to my home, JOHNSON’S® products are a staple on our Walmart shopping list.

I tell everyone how much I love their JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE® Baby Wash for at home and on the go. We use it in every bath, shower, or sink bath {yes, those are definitely a thing}, and I love how fresh baby smells afterwards. Sometimes I wrap her up in a towel and snuggle her close just so I can enjoy the familiar scent that takes me back to childhood as well as reminding me of all the hundreds of baby baths I’ve given throughout the years.

Johnson's Baby and MamaFor night, we have started a new routine using the JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® Baby Moisture Wash in the bath and then following it with JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® Baby Lotion before bed. Then we curl up in our jammies and read a book or two, sing a song or eight, and kiss goodnight.

I love that the routine signals bedtime to her and the calming aromas start relaxing during the bath, and I find that bedtime with our new routine is ultimately easier on all of us. Things can get crazy with three kiddos, so I love that this new bedtime routine is just the two of us. With all the crazy cold weather this winter, I have been really impressed that her skin is staying well moisturized throughout the day now that we do this a few times a week.

It may seem weird to have such a sentimental attachment to some soap and lotion, but I know I’m not alone in feeling nostalgic every time I see or smell JOHNSON’S® baby products. They were such a big part of my youth and have now become such a huge part of motherhood throughout the years that the memories have become intertwined.

I’m the first to admit that I’m going to be a mess when I realize we have aged out of JOHNSON’S® baby products. Yet, I know there will be a time I will gift big JOHNSON’S® sets to new moms while mourning the end of an era. So for now I’m going to enjoy every bath, every towel-covered snuggle, and every time I get to do our nightly routine.  Johnson's Baby shampoo
