Secret to a better night’s sleep: The Floating Comfort Pillow by Mediflow

Floating Comfort Pillow filling better night's sleepSponsored postBefore I was a parent, I didn’t know how much difference a good night’s sleep really makes. Even though my kids {for the most part} sleep through the night, I have a horrible habit of staying up too late and then waking up too early. To add to the problem, I’ve also found that I seriously dislike all of the pillows I’ve bought in the past few years and I’ve gone through numerous pillows trying to find one that won’t keep me up at night tossing and turning.Babies in bedI currently have a stash of pillows that have been deemed too soft, too hard, too thick, or just plain too uncomfortable. I even got that one from the infomercial, you know, the one that is labeled “perfect”, and trust me, it wasn’t. I feel like I’ve been searching for the elusive “perfect pillow” for years and years now, and I was beginning to think that it just didn’t exist.

And then I received an email from Mediflow talking about how their pillows can give you “the gift of a great night’s sleep”. It stated that The Floating Comfort Pillow by Mediflow is the only pillow clinically proven to improve the quality of sleep, and I knew I had to try it.

What makes the Floating Comfort Pillow different?

The Floating Comfort Pillow is like nothing I’ve ever seen or felt before. On the outside it may look just like a normal pillow, but if you turn it over you realize that it’s definitely not a normal pillow when you see the half-dollar-sized cap on the side of it. Remove this cap with the included tool and it gives you access a water reservoir that you can fill with tap water to your desired firmness.

The Floating Comfort Pillow uses exclusive waterbase technology that provides responsive support as you sleep. By adapting to the shape of your head and neck as you move during sleep, it keeps your head and neck remain in proper alignment.

Naturally, this creates a totally different kind of sleeping experience, and one that is clinically proven to improve the quality of sleep {based on a peer-reviewed study conducted at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine}. The benefits include deeper sleep, a reduction in neck pain, and no more waking up to fluff your pillow. Just fill the pillow with tap water until you reach your desired amount of firmness, and your pillow can even change depending on your mood. I know I was really frustrated sleeping on my side for 9 months during each of my pregnancies and extra frustrated because that meant buying new pillows, but with the Floating Comfort pillow I could have just adjusted the firmness and not had to buy anything… except, you know, baby stuff.

I will admit that I was intimidated about a customizable pillow at first because I thought I might be messing around with trial and error for weeks and getting worse nights sleep because of it while I figured out my desired firmness. It turns out that there’s a handy guide right on the pillow package that helps you figure out your desired fill amount, and then you can make slight adjustments from there, as necessary.

I went with the medium fill, which is 90 oz. Once you have your tap water in a pourable container, you then screw the included removal/filling tool onto the pillow cap and it becomes a funnel. My husband kindly did this for me so I could photograph how easy it is. Floating Comfort Pillow filling 2Once my pillow was filled, he followed the steps to remove the air in the pillow {this keeps it from being too firm with air, as well as preventing a loud sloshing sound when you sleep. Even without the air, the pillow does have a slightly waterbed-esque sound to it, but I don’t mind it at all. Floating Comfort Pillow removing airAfter the air is removed, you then use the tool to screw back on the cap and you’re ready for sleeping. I will warn you that once the pillow is filled it is heavy, for obvious reasons. This means it won’t make a very good travel pillow {unless, of course you remove the water from the pillow first and then re-fill at your destination}, but if you’re just using it at home you shouldn’t have a problem.

If you’re struggling to find the perfect pillow with just the right about of firmness and softness, I would highly recommend the Floating Comfort pillow. It provides the contouring support I need while still being customizable just for me, and it helps keep me asleep longer, which I love. Floating Comfort Pillow
