We love the 2015 Hess Fire Truck and Ladder Rescue

Sponsored postMy son loves vehicles of all kinds. Big ones he can sit in and pretend to drive, little ones that fit in his pocket, and medium sized ones that he sets up scenes for so he can play make believe all day long. But, although he loves all trucks, cars and vehicles, fire trucks are the epitome of cool to him. Hess Fire Truck hugSo, when I heard that the new 2015 Hess Toy Truck that was released this November was a Fire Truck and Ladder Rescue, I knew it had to be his. A quick look into the “Hesstory” of the company {see what they did there?}, and I already knew this was going to be a yearly tradition with me and my son.

Have you heard of Hess Toy Trucks before? The tradition began in 1964 when the first toy truck was revealed. Each November the new design is released to their eager fans, which includes both collectors and kids alike. Hess Fire truck with fire

And, after seeing the 2015 Hess Fire Truck and Ladder Rescue in person, I totally get it. I understand why Hess fans blow up social media sharing pictures of their collections using #2015HessToyTruck, and I see now why kids of all ages look forward to seeing the new truck every year.

While most collectors leave their Hess toy trucks in the package, there was no way I was going to get away with that for my son. So, this year, the Hess truck is going to be a toy, and I’m fine with that. I want to have these memories of watching him play with his Hess Fire Truck, and I want this to be where our tradition starts.

Because, this is too cool to sit in a box. Hess Fire TruckMy son is the kind of kid who loves toys with attention to detail, and it’s the realistic details in the truck that sold him on Hess. As much as he loves the flashing lights and sound effects, the extendable ladder, and the swiveling chrome-detailed fire hose nozzles, his favorite feature is definitely the slide out ramp for the ladder truck to drive up to rest on the flatbed truck when he’s playing “emergency”. Hess fire truck playing with ladder carIn fact, he’s been playing with the fire truck nonstop since we opened it and flipped the switches on {it comes with the batteries included so it’s ready for play}. Most of the time he insists upon wearing his fire fighter costume, and I couldn’t possibly say no to this cuteness. He’s making memories that he will never forget, and I get to capture gems like this. Win, win. Hess Fire Truck ladder truck fighting fireHis love for his Hess Fire Truck is only growing with each day, so we decided to make him a “fire” to fight using some leftover felt pieces. We cut strips of flames and then layered them before hot gluing them in one long strip. We decided on this design so he could wrap the fire around his toy buildings or make it into a circle so it stands on its own. It’s a super easy DIY, but it adds a lot to his imaginative play and that’s worth everything to me. Hess fire truck up closeDo you want to buy the new 2015 Hess Fire Truck and Ladder Rescue? Visit hesstoytruck.com and buy directly on their site, or use their locator to find retail locations near you. Whether you buy online or in person, there’s a chance you might be one of the lucky ones who opens your box to find a limited edition silver fire truck that collectors go crazy for. My son doesn’t know about the Silver Editions yet, but I’m hoping at one point we track one down because I can only imagine the kind of joy that two fire trucks would bring.
