6 tips to getting a good night’s sleep with Restonic {ComfortCare Select mattress}

Sponsored postRecently, I’ve been thinking a lot about beds. Namely, that I don’t spend nearly enough time in mine. But, with full days and late nights trying to work after the kiddos go to sleep, paired with middle of the night feedings and early mornings doing school drop-offs, sleep has been somewhat elusive these past few months. Such is the life of a mom of three.

Of course, all the tiredness is more than worth it when you wake up to this smiling face. Baby in bedBut, that doesn’t mean I have to just have to accept that I’m just not going to get good sleep. It turns out there are plenty of ways I can at least enhance the little bit of shut eye that I do get and wake feeling less like a zombie every morning.

Here are just a few suggestions you can use to make every night as restful as possible.

  1. Get exercise throughout the day {although not right before bedtime}. Staying active during the day helps you stay asleep longer and get more restful sleep.
  2. Don’t see extra sleep as a treat – you deserve a good night’s sleep every night. Contrary to popular belief, you cannot “catch up on sleep”, so you need to make it a priority to get a proper night’s sleep regularly for your own well-being.
  3. Speaking of getting proper sleep, experts agree that creating a sleep schedule where you go to bed and wake up at the same times each day is ideal – and you should stick to it even on weekends. Use a sleep mask to block out evening light as the days get longer, or the morning light depending on your sleep schedule.
  4. Create a soothing bedtime ritual. And no, watching TV in bed doesn’t count. Try relaxing bubble baths, calming music, stretching, reading, or simply cuddling up and catching up on your day.
  5. Cut the caffeine in early afternoon. No coffee or caffeinated sodas and teas, as they can keep you from falling asleep at bedtime.
  6. Aromatherapy DIY – certain smells, like lavender and chamomile helps aid in relaxation and helps you sleep more soundly. You can make your own sleep spray by using essential oils and water in a spray bottle to spritz on your bedding before sleep, or you can use scented stress-relief lotions before bed.
  7. Get yourself a good mattress. You spend 1/3 of your life sleeping, so make sure you are as comfortable as possible.

Cutting caffeine has proven to be harder, as is the sleep schedule since newborns rarely keep a schedule, but I know I need to make this a priority so I can be the best mom I can be. 1. Hi Leanne,
    Thanks so much for this post. We love the line, “sleep isn’t just for the weekend.” To be the best moms we can be, sleep absolutely must be a priority – and great for you for making it one.

  2. Mattress quality is so key – you don’t know you had a bad one until you have a great one, or vice versa! It’s funny how most people don’t want to invest in an amazing mattress, considering we spend so much of our lives on one. Thanks for the great tips!
