Our Beaches Turks & Caicos Babymoon

Beaches BabymoonI can’t even count how many people asked if our recent trip to Beaches Turks & Caicos was a “Babymoon”. Although I had heard of the idea of a Babymoon before, I honestly had no idea that they were such a well-known thing. As it turns out, Babymoons are a very big thing for the travel industry and many parents are using the opportunity score special packages and discounts to take one last big trip before baby.

In our case, our Babymoon happened by accident as our Turks & Caicos trip was planned mere days before we saw the positive pregnancy test. But while the pregnancy didn’t play much into the planning of the trip other than getting the okay from the doctor that travel during the 3rd trimester was fine, I’m still calling this a Babymoon.

And, why not? Babymoons are a relaxing time to reconnect as a family before sleeping in and diaper-free travel are a thing of the past. Of course, there were a few things I couldn't do while pregnant, like indulge in their adult beverages or go scuba diving, but I honestly didn't miss them with all the other amenities I could enjoy. For us, Beaches Resorts was a great way to celebrate as well as holding numerous luxuries I couldn’t have even dreamt up on my own. Family at BeachesAmenities at Beaches resorts that pregnant moms will love:

  1. Pampering fit for a queen. The Mother-2-Be treatment at Red Lane Spa looks heavenly and my one big regret was that I didn't make time for a luxurious spa treatment to relax.
  2. Free childcare. If you have older siblings, you will love the free Beaches Kids Camp that is offered from 9am to 9pm for kids from infant to teen, and the nanny service {for an additional charge} after the camp closes. I was a bit worried my son wouldn’t be okay with drop off childcare, but he ended up having so much fun the one day we dropped him off that he asked to stay longer when we came to pick him up, so we ended up heading to the pool to let him play for a bit longer. 3. Luxurious jetted tubs. What better way to start or end a day with a relaxing soak in a jetted tub? Although the kids loved the tub as well, I claimed the tub for me a few times during the stay to relax in a tub full of bubbles. Insider tip: the rooms don’t have bubble bath, but the Red Lane Spa body wash doubles as a bubbly bath treatment. Red Lane Spa jetted tub
  4. Craving? What craving? Having a full staff devoted to taking care of every single pregnancy craving you can dream up is pretty amazing. I’ve never been one to send my husband out for a midnight Snickers run or insisting on a certain dinner or dessert, but it’s fun to indulge every once in a while. With 19 different restaurants as part of their Discovery Dining experience, snack and grab-and-go options, and an entire staff that wants to know if I would like anything else, cravings are a thing of the past. 5. A place for everyone, and everyone in their place. Typical hotel rooms have us all bunking in the same room, or worse, in the same bed, so I love that our condo at Beaches Key West Village included two separate bedrooms as well as a living space with trundle beds for the kids.
  6. Happy kids = happy parents. A Babymoon wouldn’t be relaxing if you were stressed about entertaining your kids, so I love that Beaches provides all the entertainment the kids could ever want. From Pirates Island waterpark and art classes for the young one to Scratch DJ Academy, Trench Town, and Xbox Play Lounge for older kids, as well as nighttime parties and events for the whole family, there's no planning required to have a great time. 7. Water, water, and more water. While I’m not up for running marathons these days and even our morning Zumba can take a lot out of me, I love swimming while pregnant because it’s a great way to stay active while enjoying the weightlessness that water offers. And, with a huge waterpark, a lazy river float, and 12 miles of gorgeous coastline, Beaches has all the water fun I could ever ask for. Beaches lazy river in waterpark
  8. Relaxation is the life. At home, it’s hard to relax. There are bills to pay, food to cook, far too much to clean, and a million little things that distract me throughout the day. But, at Beaches, my job is to relax and have fun. With hammocks scattered throughout the resort, beach chairs calling my name, and pool loungers begging to be floated on, there’s no shortage of ways for a pregnant mama to relax and take things slow. 9. Reconnect with hubby. Sandals may be for couples and Beaches for families, but that doesn’t mean Beaches can’t be romantic. Remember that free childcare I was talking about? You can use it to go to a kid free meal, or even spring for a special candlelight dinner for two so you can talk about something other than LEGOs and favorite book characters. It might be quite a while before our next date night after baby, so I appreciate time spent alone now, even if it is just walking around the resort and grabbing a pastry from the French bakery. 10. Alone time. Whatever your favorite way to spend your alone time is, Beaches has something for you. Whether you love golfing, snorkeling, gaming, DJ-ing, crafting, guided excursions, water sports, shopping, or simply reading by the pool, there’s something for you at Beaches.

If you’re looking for a no-hassle and literally worry-free vacation for the whole family before your new arrival, I highly recommend checking out Beaches Turks & Caicos. Sometimes you just need a little pampering, and creating a new life is definitely one of those times. Just call it an investment in your sanity.

With resorts in Jamaica and Turks & Caicos as well as one on the way in Barbados, there's a Beaches resort for everyone. Or, you could ditch the older kids and head to a Sandals Resort with your hubby and no one would fault you one bit.

  1. A “Babymoon”! How I wish I would have been able to get away and pamper myself (or have others pamper me!) when I was expecting! You look like you had a great time – lucky you! That”s great. And free childcare? The whole family looks so happy!
