I participated in this program on behalf of Carter's and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
When I found out I was pregnant with my oldest, I immediately set up a shopping trip to our local Carter's store with my sister in law and her two kiddos. Not knowing whether I was having a boy or a girl yet, I came up with a brilliant plan: I would buy boy clothes AND girl clothes and send them home with my sister in law for her kids to wear first, and then she would just hand the correct gender clothing down to me once the baby was born.
That way numerous kids in our family could be this adorable. Win, win.
And, as luck would have it, I went on to have a boy and a girl and both of my children got to wear that haul of Carter's clothing. It worked out so well that we planned numerous trips like that together throughout the past few years. I'm happy to say that not only were the clothes in great condition once they made it to my kids, they also lasted through my cousins' and sister's kids as well once I handed them down.
Those clothes from our initial trips date back to 2007 and almost all of those clothes were still in such great condition after going through 4+ kids in three separate families. In fact, many of these baby clothes still ended up in the baby keepsake boxes I keep for both kiddos.
Even though I don't have babies anymore, I still love shopping at my local Carter's store for both kids. Carter's carries a mix of adorable, cute, hip, practical, and truly fun pieces for newborn on up to kids size 12, which is great because it means I still have a few more years of shopping there before I'm forced to shop at the tween retailers.
And, oh man did we have fun spending that gift card! We loaded up on tons of new fashions for both baby and in the older kids sizes. Of course, baby stuff was awfully fun to shop for, but the older kid departments are surprisingly well-stocked with all the new styles that cost so much more at other stores. For the amount you would normally find one dress for, we scored 3 new dresses for my daughter's spring wardrobe.
Just look at how adorable these are. Don't you want to be 5 again, too? I know I say this all the time, but seriously, if these came in my size, I would totally buy them. Even with our loaded up carts, the final sale was still a whole lot less than I thought it would be, especially considering that we had bought multiple outfits for 4 different kids. When we finally made it out of the store, we had two huge bags full of adorable fashions that I couldn't wait for the kids to model.
We've had a whole bunch of fun picking her outfits out each day with all her new spring colors and styles added to her closet. And, the bonus for me is that morning time sure goes a lot smoother when she's excited to get dressed!
And, while it's still going to be a while before my new niece or nephew joins us, I'm happy knowing that when he or she does arrive they will be greeted by a closet this adorable.
