My daughter is ridiculously excited about starting Kindergarten this fall. For the past few months we’ve been focusing on writing and drawing together to tell stories just like they did in preschool because she was so disappointed when school ended for the summer. Then, about a month ago, she developed a deep love for Science and since then we have spent a lot of time learning about how things work and doing experiments together.
But, the one thing I wasn’t working on was math. I knew that she needed to be able to count to 100 for school, but I guess I thought she was still a bit young for actual math. Under the assumption that this was still years away, I hadn’t even gone over the basics of math with her. It turns out that she was more than ready for formal math lessons.
Remember the days when formal lessons either came in a classroom full of students or you had to pay an arm and a leg for private tutors and lesson plans? Those days are long gone with the emergence of the Tabtor, a personalized in-home iPad learning system for kids in grades K-6 that takes all the benefits of private lessons but in a convenient and affordable package.
