Travel season is on the horizon, and with it will come hours and hours in the car with my littles. While they are both pretty awesome even for long periods of driving, I really wish our car was set up better for road trips, big and small. Since we’re not upgrading our ride anytime soon, for the past few months I’ve been seeking out products that can make our current car work better for us.
Because both kids are habitual packrats, the first thing I knew I needed was a place to put all their stuff. From “vrooms” to snacks to lip gloss, it feels like there are a million things they both insist upon bringing with them everywhere we go, which usually fall in a big mess at their feet that they are unable to reach.
Prince Lionheart took pity on us poor parents wading through mounds of crayons, cheerios, and toys just to find the pacifier at naptime and created the Back Seat Organizer for this very reason. Now everything is kept neat, clean and organized right where I need it and within reach even from the front seat.
But, even better than that is that my daughter has full access to everything as well that she and her brother might need for the 15 minute store run and as well as when we cross the state lines. So, instead of pulling over and searching the ground for toys and anything else they might have dropped, they simply can reach in the organizer and grab a new toy to keep themselves busy.
Installation is easy and is as easy as buckling a seatbelt and once it’s on it is ready to take your child’s mess and tame it once and for all. With pockets for snacks, elasticized cup holders, a zippered pocket, and even a place to clip toys, it’s the perfect kiddo command center and it’s a new favorite around here amongst parents and kids.
The Prince Lionheart Back Seat Organizer comes in two colors {tan and black} and actually looks good on the seat back. No characters or primary color nonsense clutters the design, and blends in nicely with the interior of our car. It’s so cool I just might hang onto it well after the children are grown because it would be great for organizing my stuff as well.
The second product we got for road trips was the Two-Stage Seatsaver to help save our upholstery and our sanity. Since kids have a way of getting stuff everywhere {yes, even if you don’t let them eat in the car}, I feel like my car is never as clean as I like it.
With the Two-Stage Seatsaver, it not only protects from crumbs, debris, and toy parts being swallowed up by the seat, it also protects your seats from the indents caused by heavy car seats. This is especially important in our car with leather seats, but it’s also nice for cloth upholstery as well.
It is made from high-density molded foam that contours to your seats and has tacky grip covering the underside of the Seatsaver to keep it firmly in place. As the name suggests, the Seatsaver has two stages: Stage 1 – Bottom piece is used alone with rear facing infant seats. Stage 2 – Back attaches to the bottom piece for use with forward facing toddler/booster car seats.
I was really surprised when I first took the Seatsaver out of the package as I realized that it wasn’t made of heavy rubber as I had assumed. The Seatsaver is actually quite lightweight and portable, weighing almost nothing, and is easy to manipulate to get the perfect fit for your vehicle. The fact that it is not grippy rubber makes it so much easier to clean, store, and to use and I and thrilled with the way it has held up.
We’ve been using a Prince Lionheart Two-Stage Seatsaver for a few months with my daughter and absolutely love it, so I was really excited to get one for my son as well. With his seat still rear facing, I love that I can use just the bottom piece of the Two-Stage Seatsaver for now and save the top piece for when we flip him forward. That way, it grows with him and I don’t need to get two separate products just a few months apart!
I love that Prince Lionheart has saved our road trips, protected our car, and made us a whole lot more organized, even when we take this show on the road. Now the whole back seat is clean and organized and I am actually looking forward to hopping in the car as a family.
