Cozy At Home: Day 27

From initial set up we were impressed with the simplicity of the camera. While First Alert offers full security systems, this particular camera is a stand alone unit that can be added into other systems or connected directly to a TV, VCR, or DVR. Even though it was incredibly easy to set up, just having it hooked up makes me feel like our house is now an impenetrable private lair.
With simple connections for audio, video and power, the camera can be set up and running in no time, and with 100 feet of cable included you will have plenty of mounting options. And, since the First Alert P-520 is rated for indoor and outdoor use and has automatic night vision, you really can put it wherever you want. Here at Rave Central, we mounted the camera on our front porch and ran the cable to our TV at the rear of our house. Now we can see and hear what is going on at the front of our house by simply changing the channel on our TV. This makes us feel cozy and secure as well as fulfilling childhood dreams of having the ultimate high tech security system.
For my wife, this is because when she was growing up my brother-in-law would share his dream about one day having a top-notch security system with cameras, motion detectors and more. Not surprisingly, he grew up to own a room we called "the casino room" which had the highest in security systems and steel reinforced walls. While I certainly don't dream of owning my own casino room, I really love knowing that my home is as secure with its own high tech video surveillance.
Best of all, by utilizing products from First Alert, I was able to get the same level of security while saving a lot of money by implementing the systems all by myself. If you have even a small inclination and electronic know-how, you can easily and simply create your own elaborate security system that is comparable to those you would have professionally installed.
